Nuages, solo

Postby justjack » Fri Apr 16, 2004 6:47 pm

If anyone's been struggling to find the solo recording of Nuages from Michael Horowitz's Unaccompanied Django, he's been good enough to post an mp3 of it over at www.djangobooks.com And if you don't have the book, go have a listen anyway-you'll probably want to order one after hearing the record.

Thanks, Michael!

Fantastic! But I didn't expect anything less...
Can't wait for the next release on Fremeaux to get the complete thing.

Indeed. And thanks for the heads up, Jack, I've been waiting a long time to hear that. Just burned a copy to CD, and am breaking out the Unaccompanied Django to tackle the 1st section...

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to play the harmonics
in that one version of Nuages.

Can anyone help me learn this technique?

are you referring to artificial harmonics like Django plays in a couple of versions of Nuages? If so, fret the note you want and then pluck the harmonic 12 frets above the note. This requires you to use your right hand both to pluck the string and to touch the string (12 frets above the fretted note) with another finger (creating the harmonic) simultaneously. Hard to explain but I think it's clear maybe?
