To make it easier, I've collected all the assorted links into this one post, though they're still mostly about playing instead of CDs or guitars (no particular order, either, as sites do come and go). I think this is to be copied to M. Horowitz's new US forum over at www.djangobooks.com:

Hi Jack, justjack wrote:If you enjoy playing over the rhythm download available at the above, you'll probably like this, too:justjack wrote:Another: http://nuagesdeswing.free.fr/jouer/jouer_index.html
Some mp3 and real audio files with chord grids. Note they use a slightly different style than www.gadjodrom.com when dividing up a single bar. Gadjodrom is west, north, south, east; this is upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right. Clear enough, though, I'm sure.

Click on the Defis link, and you'll find a page of amateur recordings people have made using the nuagesdeswing backing tracks. Inspiring and fun.

Thx

Really great videos I have not seen before. The Bireli/McLaughlin version of All Blues is really nice. Also that Hungaria. Is that Hono Winterstein?
Great stuff.

Yes Hono is a great character;the 'Oliver Hardy' of Gypsy Jazz!!.... BUT an awesome guitarist lets not forget that--i think he is in his mid forties.
I have a video from the mid eighties where he plays with Claudio and Dorado--he's much slimmer!--almost unrecognizable!
With Holzmano Lagrene,Potzi,Nousche Rosenberg and Matcho Winterstein he is the best rhythm guy out there imo.
Stu
What you mean with "he is in his mid forties"? I've not understoodstublag wrote:emicad wrote:Histublag wrote: I'm happy every time i see Hono playing, he makes me cheerful, one of the most likely characters of the scene, a GREAT.

Where you have taken the slim-Hono video? Can you send it to me?
There are some characters i don't know as Holzmano, Potzi and Matcho, who they are?
