Ireland Gigs

Postby Greg3900 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 9:29 am

Does anyone know of any pubs / clubs that play gypsy music in Ireland? Anywhere in Ireland that is!
I remember going to see Ian Date play in Galway (Brennans Yard) once but that was back in 2002 and I haven't seen anything else since. I need a local fix without having to cross the Irish Sea. :(

Looks like it'll be a great gig but unfortunatly the dates clash with a gig I'm doing at the derry city jazz festival - Bummer!

I see Angelo is playing the Galway jazz club too on May 1st

Should be good gigs but can't make either of them.

Hi guys,
I'll arrive in Ireland on the 31st July till 14th August, with friends of mine.
We'll make a road trip (with my small car), around the country. From Rosslare (Wexford), to Cork, Dublin, Galway.
I'll probably meet a man, nammed Damien in Galway. He was at Samois on June.
Has anyone a suggestion to make, for me to hear, or even play gypsy jazz ? (Cause I'm an addict, and can't bring my guitar...)

Thank you people.
Keep on swinging !

Ireland trip

Postby Greg3900 » Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:54 am

I'm up in the North of Ireland and will be playing a small gig in the Radisson Hotel on August 3rd (Friday night). However it looks like you will be mainly in the south and west of Ireland.
If you get to Cork area you may be fortunate enough to see Ian Date play as he is based there. Check out his website Iandate.com to see if he has any upcoming dates. If there's none shown its probably worth e mailing him to check as the dates section is not always kept up to date.
Good luck with you trip and let me know if you're heading North at all and if so I'll have a better look at whats on.
Cheers
Greg

Ok, if I believe his on-line calendar, he seems not to have any gigs or "performances" for the rest of his carreer.
Has this ever worked properly ?

This man is open-minded, he plays Django and RHCP as well ! ;)

Well, no more poor kidding, I have been listening to Danse Norvégienne and I Love You. He sounds great, with pretty melodies.
He is a lot better than I am. I mean he is a pro...

Unbelievable, he has got the Selmer 507 !!!
And two other ones !

I'll see if I can be pretentious enough, to contact him...
