According to an article in the Sunday Times Syd in his later days didn't listen to rock but, and i quote,"... just jazz artists;his favourites were Thelonius Monk,DJANGO REINHARDT,Miles Davis...."
What a top guy!

funny you mention that Stu, I heard that Stephane Grappelli actually contributes a very small part on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album, can't confirm it but what a trip if true.

oops, here's the confirmation:

Trivia

* Grappelli's music is played very quietly on Pink Floyd's album Wish You Were Here. It is almost impossible to hear, due to it being mixed at low volume under wind sound effects on the title track. The violinist was not credited, according to Roger Waters, in order to avoid "a bit of an insult". [4]
