My new guitar

Postby Thrip » Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:49 pm

I just picked this guitar up from the charity shop next door for £20

It is a child's half size guitar that will do me nicely as a travel guitar.

It is quite well made with a bone nut, nice rosette and solid wood back and sides. Does anybody know what wood this is?, it looks a bit like walnut but I'm no expert.

The action is amazing, it plays like a dream and sounds great! BARGAIN!!!

Can't help with the wood but I have one similar. It was my first guitar when I was twelve and cost my Dad 30 shillings secondhand.
I put steel strings on it which tore the bridge off but I managed to get it repaired.

What a little beaut! The sides are definitely european walnut, the back possibly so as well, though would need to see it to be sure. Will you take it to Samois?

Thanks for your replies! (except Cabo, who's jealous because my guitar is getting more attention than his new Aylward).

The wood looks slightly different on the back than the sides... curious.
