He also played with Zappa in the 70's - Dude

Yes very sad news; i wasn't aware he was ill so it was a real shock to me.
Glad i saw him at Ronnies a few years ago; with incredible band including Larry Goldings and Idris Muhammed--staggering virtuosity.
One of my fave albums is the one he did with Claus Ogerman "Cityscapes"---really deep playing and great writing from Ogermann.And his great solo on Donald Fagens "Maxine".

my favourite Brecker (perhaps because I don't like fusion that much) is on Chick Corea's beautiful (and all acoustic) Three Quartets album. The last track is a fantastic six minute version of Confirmation with just sax and drums.
