Vamp?

Postby justjack » Fri Jul 18, 2003 11:35 pm

I noticed this tune (Vamp) listed on a Barney Wilen CD (Jazz sur Seine) the other day; it's credited to Django. I can't remember ever seeing it on another CD, and was wondering if it might be another tune renamed; I didn't get a chance to listen to it. Anyone know this?

Paris with Hubert Fol (alto), Raymond Fol (pno), Pierre Michelot (bs) and Pierre Lemarchand (dms) at 2.37pm. It was a cold, overcast day with the occasional hint of rain. Django was wearing an odd pair of check trousers and different colour socks. I'll see if I can get some more details for you.

Thanks! I'm sure that number at the bottom tells me all I need, but...any particular label for that disc?

It's part of the "Jazz in Paris" series from Gitanes Jazz Productions although it may be under the Sunnyside label in the US.

It's also on DRG 8473 "Django Reinhardt - Brussels and Paris"; a must have CD.

Thanks, for the shot, Teddy-we do get Gitanes here, though I don't think I've seen that particular one yet. I'll keep my eyes open.
