I am looking at getting into Gypsy guitar.

I have read several reviews on the Gitane guitars and was thinking about getting one of them.
(dg-250, dg-250m, dg-255)
I like the 14 fret petite bouche.

I was also looking at guitars that are a little more towards the low end of the high end (if that makes any sense?).
In particular:

Gitane dg-300
Dell Arte Pigalle (headstock and emblem on headstock look suspiciously like the Gitane dg-255)
Dell Arte Minor Swing

Has anyone tried and can offer opinions on these three models?

Thanks!

The Pigalle is a collaboration between Saga and Dell'Arte, which accounts for some of the cosmetic similarities; Dell'Arte makes the neck and does all the final set up stateside. I recently played a Jorgenson (the DG-300) and found that the neck was much, much better than the DG-250s or DG-255. By better I just mean a bit heftier; the others are more like electric necks. The hardware on the DG-300 is much better also. Can't say much about the Minor Swing; I've played one, but only for ten minutes or so. I'd say go for the DG-300 or the Pigalle, unless you've got smaller hands-then you might be more comfortable with one of the other Gitanes. Above all, try to find some in a shop, and give them a play.

If you come west for Django in June in Northampton, you'll have a chance to see and play all these and more. Hell, I might sell you one of my guitars, should you like. Click here for Django in June details:

That Django in june looks interesting. I'll have to see if I can book the that June 3rd friday off next week and seriously consider going for the weekend.
Now I'll have to get me a gypsy guitar soon and start getting some rhythm practice and work on the changes to a few songs.
