Integrale Django Vol 13"Echoes Of France 46-47" |

Integrale Django vol 13 takes us to the interesting period after the war where Django makes his long awaited trip to America sure in the knowledge that he will be welcomed with open arms. So sure of his acceptance there that he neglected to take his beloved acoustic guitar. He was sure that the Americains would provide him an instrument to play. This initially was not the case and only after some last minuite negotiations did he manage to procure his Epiphone. In this Volume we hear three tracks from the concerts with Duke Ellington and his Orchestra. Django does not let the side down with his amazing improvisations over Ride Red Ride, A Blues Riff and Honeysuckle Rose. The response from the audience and the band is self evident of their appreciation. Django unfortunatly did not keep up his dates with Ellington and was prematurly dropped from the tour for doing what Django did best and was dropped for arriving late for gigs. Also on this CD is a rare radio performance perporting to have an interview with our hero. It is thought that Charles Delaunay filled in for him as Django was not as good an English speaker as Delaunay. |
