"Romane", born Patrick Leguidcoq, was born into a family of muscians in Paris. After 13 years of playing piano he moved to the guitar, played by his father and grandfather. He used to "hang out" with the "Manouche" (Gypsies) at the flea market in Clignancourt, Paris and learnt the tricks of the trade from them and his love for the Gypsy style was born.

It must be said that Romane is not a Django copyist, he pushes the style as did Django, always looking for new ways to interpret the style.

His style is bright and forcefull, full of confidence and charm. He has composed many tunes himself, some of which have become Gypsy standards, no more so than his melancholy "Swing For Ninine", a must for all budding players of the medium.

He recently went to Nashville and captivated the 8,000 strong audience of the "Grand Old Opry with his flare and charm. He recorded an C.D there "Nashville" full of the Gypsy style standards with a new fresh outlook. He is without doubt one of the more succesfull of the genre, with now 4 C.D's under his belt. He will undoubtedly go down as one of the greats.
