I think the last guitar I had off him - a 14 fret D hole monster - took 18 months start to finish. So he's definitely getting slower. But, hey, he's an artist!

Well, after something like 27 months, it finally arrived. Finishing and build quality is superb, and it's opening up nicely. A luthier friend was particularly complimentary about the workmanship.

I played a Gitane D500 in my local shop, the other day, and it was as good as almost anything, to be frank. It had the chunky neck not the slim one, and a vastly improved steeper neck angle. A redesign perhaps. I see a lot of people buying more expensive guitars, because they just can't believe the ...

The darkness is descending again, is what every traveller fears. From Dale Farm in the UK, all the way across Europe, things are getting worse fast.

Whilst the Vichy government collaborated, many Rom joined the Maquis. Sarkozy should have some respect.

I'm not too worried. He'll come through. I've still got a restoration/repair on a turn of the last century classical guitar with another luthier. 3 years and counting...

I've yet to try the Cub 8, but I was sorely tempted, but I got offered a brand new (unwanted gift) Fender Champion 600 for £85 so went cheap. It's bloody loud for 5w, but it's had a Weber speaker upgrade. I might try a few "mods", as they say on the amp forums. Essentially the electric Dja...

It's a gentle curve, not a cranked neapolitan mandolin style top.

well try the Laney VC15, with a 10" speaker then. Great amp, and a favourite of mine.

I haven't got one of those Laney Cub amps, but I have got a 15w Laney amp, which I use as often as I can in preference to a 40w Fender, due to liking the sound a touch more and the hideous weight of the Fender. I also just bought a little 5w Fender Champion 600, which looks a little like the Stimer ...

Depends on the venue size, but Mackie SRM350s are great, get the SRM450s for a bit more bass thump.

Emailed Mr A. He's had the workshop re-roofed or something, which has slowed things down. January is the expected delivery. Great ! Having had a few things built by luthiers, and as a repairer myself, over the years, I've learnt not to hassle them, but that contact every 6 months is a good idea, jus...
