Hey Gary, If you have ball ends then loosen the string enough so you can twist it counter clockwise 6 or 7 times then tighten it back up while holding the ball end so it dosn't untwist If loop ends just pop the string off of the tailpiece and twist and reattach it. All the best, Steve

This might be a silly question, but what is the maple or rosewood laminated onto? I realise that old selmers and macs were often laminated guitars as well, but what type of wood are the Gitane's using for their base? Thanks again. The laminates are Rosewood/mahogany/Rosewood DG250,DG255 Maple/birch...

The audio technica comes with aclip that attaches to the soundhole, as for the radio shack microphone you can experiment with placement for best sound with blue masking tape or poster putty.

HI Littlewing , I tried the Barcus Berry insider and it really didn't sound any better than the homemade radio shack peizo so I returned it. I also have a Radio shack lapel microphone and it works but it is kind of mid rangey but it works with some EQ. I recently got a Audio technica 831b lavalier o...

wooahhh!! didn't i say don't shoot me? i'm just saying what is generally recognised amongst the players i've met and jammed with - and whose comments i've read on this forum and others - that the tone of a good selmac is markedly different from a conventional acoustic steel string guitar - ...

I have the DG250 and in my opinion,it seems to do well at both lead and rhythm, and it has a little bit warmer tone than my friends DG250m. They are both loud guitars.

All the best

I agree. I was jamming with a friend of mine yesterday who owns a DG255 - i have a Piers Crocker oval hole, a very accurate replica of an old Selmer and an expensive beautifully made guitar - and my guitar has a lot less 'woof' in the note than his. But mine sang and bounced while his just sat ther...

Yes, I currently use the argy mediums and thats what I put on the Dg-300 as well as a different bridge but it still sounded very thin in comparison to my Dg-250.My friend Rick came over yesterday and we compared the Dg-300 to to his DG-250 maple and even it had a fuller sound than the JJ. Go figure ...

Well I recieved my JJ Dg-300 today and I must say I am a little dissapointed, maybe I was expecting a little too much but I thought it would at least sound as good as my dg-250.True it does have anice full neck but it also has the same old problems like the tail piece rattleing and uneven fret heigh...
