Newtones can also be ordered from the 12th fret in Toronto, which should be cheaper for everyone in North America:

It's a 1933 Broadway. I've had a lot of Epiphones, and this one is better than any of the others. I don't have the book, but I have borrowed it from a friend quite a few times. I agree, the Epiphone archtops are my favorite.

I just got the mosaic Eddie Lang/Joe Venuti boxset. After reading again about Lang's setup, (15-72 with high action) cranked up the bridge on my epiphone to about 3.2mm at the 12th fret. It is currently strung with 13's. The sound was tremendous, huge and fat and with much more volume. I normally ke...

Mine is serial number #506. It seems to have pretty thin neck to me, thinner than I really like. Other than that, it is a great guitar, and I don't see any manufacturing flaws in it at all.

I agree, I wouldn't get a cutaway unless it was going to be a dedicated electric. That having been said, my friend Jordan uses an L-7 C that does have pretty great acoustic tone. For acoustic archtops, I strongly suggest anybody looking for one try as many pre-war ones as they can. I'm generalizing,...

Nick--

Do you mean the one from Nothing New Music in New Jersey? It's on it's way and should arrive tomorrow. How is the Devon? I've never played one of those.

Nick--

Which Selmer style guitars have the biggest neck? I like my gitane, but sometimes it feels like I'm playing a telecaster.

I have the schatten pickup in my gitane, and I always thought it was pretty good. This past week I borrowed an acoustic image amp from a bass player I work with. Using that on my gigs, I have had, by far, the best sound I have ever had short of using a good condenser mic. It is almost impossible to ...

The emperor regent plays very well if set up properly, but the pickup is terrible. They're not bad, but if you can find a lower-end vintage epi like the blackstone or zenith, and add a dearmond pickup, you will have much more guitar for comparable price.

I use a dearmond 1100, and find the buzzing changes from room to room. Changing the plug on my amp to a three prong cord helped a little bit, but mostly it is the wiring of the room that brings it out. I've even done gigs in the past where my amp was picking up radio stations.
