Thanks for the nice vids Maca.
btw that lovely waltz Boulou and Elios play is called "La Femme coupee en morceaux" from "Les Demoiselles de Rochfort" by Michel Legrand.
Still recovering from Samois(and my epic journey there!) but i thought it was particularly good this year!

Fred Astaire introduced “A Foggy Day” in the 1937 RKO musical, A Damsel in Distress, but it's likely that Gershwin wrote it at least a few years before. I'm not sure when Django wrote his tune, but, while possible, it doesn't seem likely to me that Gershwin would have stolen from Django (who he pro...

I love that late Django distorted sound! Stochelo is achieving it with one of these amps http://www.pechealamouche.ch/pechealamouche/index.php/en specifically designed for that purpose. I suppose it's a love it or hate it thing. It certainly has nothing to do with acoustic guitar sound! i totally a...

Django and bbc 4 continued

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00pwsns This is a great documentary about the legendary 60's photographer Brian Duffy --liberally laced with Django's 30's recordings of "I can't give you" and "Sweet chorus" and more;it's amazing how much 'lift' is given to these documentaries by...

Yes very sad news --like Humph and Dankworth they just don't make them like that anymore- and Diz also was an excellent cartoonist. I first met him in 1982 when my then (folk rock) band Hunters Moon supported him at Swinton Folk club up north. At that time he was driving (and sleeping) in an old Roll...
